AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN WORKSHOP
Join Heart of the K9 and Thriving Vine Canine Dog Training May 16th for a Canine Good Citizen Workshop and testing day! Working, audit and test only spots will be available. Testing for AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Trick Dog will be provided.
What is a Canine Good Citizen?
The AKC Canine Good Citizen test is an assessment of a dogs behavior and manners. The goal of this program is to foster positive relationships with
responsible dog owners and their communities. Earning a CGC Certification can help further your dog’s real world companion skills and aid in achieving life training goals.
What is tested during the evaluation?
1. Accepting a friendly stranger
Evaluator approaches and pretends to shake hands with handler
(Hands 6 to 12 inches apart.) Evaluator does not touch dog.
2. Sitting Politely for Petting
Evaluator pets dog; dog must show no shyness or resentment.
3. Appearance and Grooming
Evaluator inspects dog, combs or brushes lightly, examines ears and each front foot.
4. Out for a Walk
Handler takes dog for a short walk including right turn, left turn, about to turn and stop.
5. Walking through a crowd
Dog and handler walk close to several people; dog May show casual interest, but not jump up.
6. Sit and down on cue/Staying in place
Handler shows that dog can do both sit and down, then chooses a position, leaves dog and goes to the end of a 20 foot line, and returns immediately.
7. Coming when called
With dog still on 20 foot line from test six, handler walks out 10 feet and calls the dog.
8. Reaction to another dog
Two handlers and dogs approach, pretend to shake hands (Hands 6 to 12 inches apart), Exchange pleasantries, then move on.
9. Reaction to Distractions
Distractions are present; Dog may not panic or show aggression.
10. Supervised Separation
Handler goes out of sight for three minutes. Dog is held on a 6 foot leash by an evaluator.

What is AKC Trick Dog?
AKC Trick Dog is a fun test that shows off your dogs tricks. To earn your novice trick title your dog must preform 10 tricks, if you have completed your Canine Good Citizen Certification only 5 tricks are required to earn your Novice Title.

Working Spot - $125
The working spot includes 2 hands on coaching sessions with your evaluator during the seminar portion of the workshop to work on skills prior to your test. Audit time throughout the workshop and one test will also be included with your working spot. Additional tests will be $20 each.
Audit Spot $75 per person
The Audit spot includes audit time throughout the workshop, and one test. Additional tests will be $20 each. The Audit spot does not include personal coaching. Dogs will not be permitted to the workshop field until testing.
Test Only Spot $30 per test
The Test Only spot is $30 per test. You will not be permitted for early field access and will be called for testing once the other groups have finished. Testing for test only spots will begin at 9:15am after our briefing.

Your spot must be purchased in advance to held for you, purchases are non-refundable. Day of entries will be accepted provided the event has not fully filled. Day of entry is not guaranteed. Testing is pass or fail. If your test is passed you will receive a ribbon and information for certificate. Payments can be sent via Venmo or PayPal online or cash in person.
